Ramesh Nair joined the Land Transport Authority Singapore (LTA) in 1993. Throughout his 24 years of service in LTA, he was involved in the design coordination, tendering and award of civil contracts and project implementation in tunnelling works . Projects completed included the bored tunnelling works in North East Line, Circle Line 4 and Downtown Line 3. He is currently leading a team of engineers in managing the bored tunnelling works in sections C3 and C4 of current Thomson-East Coast Line which involve 16 TBMs of both slurry and EPB with a total tunnel length of 18km.

Eng.Alhammadihandling yearly infrastructure projects with a budget of 1billion dirhams, those are specialized projects in building and maintain roads & utilities, bridges, under passes, culverts, dams, and tunnels. In addition, he is sponsoring the safety center in the ministry for a purpose of exchanging the knowledge globally, and to increase the Federal Roads Safety.
Anthony Harding is the CH2M lead technologist for tunnels. He gained a degree and PhD from Edinburgh University, and joined Halcrow (now part of CH2M) in London in 2000. He has worked on a wide range of tunnel projects, across the road, rail, power and water industries. His experience covers TBM and conventional tunnelling, including the design of new tunnels and assessment of existing tunnels and other assets impacted by tunnelling.
In more recent years Anthony has acted in roles as technical manager, design coordinator, and project manager for multidisciplinary designs, usually within design-build environments. Major recent projects include the Blue Plains Tunnel in Washington DC and Westside Subway Phase 1 on Los Angeles, while assisting with projects as far afield as Sydney, Buenos Aires, Dubai and London. He has a particular interest in TBM tunnelling and gets involved in projects with particularly complex technical challenges. He is based in Los Angeles in the USA.
Antonia Cornaro, MA Urban Planning, studied at New York University and later gained experience working for the City of New York's Planning Department (1995-1997).
She has 20 years of working experience as an urban and transport planner from the public and private sector from New York City, London, Vienna and Zurich, having worked for PB, ÖIR, and EBP.
In her current work for Amberg Engineering, an internationally active Swiss firm specializing in underground infrastructure design and management,she focuseson Urban Underground Space with the aim to increase mobility, livability and resilience of urban areas.
This is also central to her work as ITACUS Vice Chair(the International Tunnel and Underground Space Association's Committee on Underground Space, http://ita-aites.org/.).
Dr. Bassam A. Ghulman serves as the Director General of the Al Haramain High Speed Rail since 2014. He is also on the Advisory Council of Development in the Emirates of Makkah and the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) since 2014. In the academic world, he has been an Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture at Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, since 2007.
A qualified Consultant Engineer (CE. SCE), Dr. Ghulman obtained his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at Umm Al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia in 1991 and later his M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Project Management) in 1996 and his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering and Project Management) in 1999 at Oklahoma State University, USA. Since then he has held numerous government and academic positions. He previously assisted as Member of the Board and Scientific Activities Officer at the Saudi Society of Civil Engineering (SSCE) from 2010 until 2016.
Dr. Ghulman has furthered engineering education at the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture in Umm Al-Qura University Makkah, Saudi Arabia , over the years by functioning as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs in 2012, Associate Professor since 207, Chairman of the Civil Engineering Department from 2007-2011, Ass. Professor from 1999-2007, and Lecturer in 1995.
In the government sector, Dr. Ghulman has served as Project Manager at Makkah Municipality in1994, Vice-President of Al-Aziziah District Municipality in Makkah in 1992, and Civil Engineer at Makkah Municipality in 1991. Other roles included Technical Consultant for H.E. Mayor of Makkah in 2001 and Supervisor for the Department of Public Services, Umm Al-Qura University in 2000.

Han Admiraal (1959) studied Civil Engineering at the University for Applied Science in Rotterdam. Heworked for the national Department of Public Works and Water Management for 20 years. Duringthat time, he was Project Manager for the first TBM driven tunnel in soft soil in the Netherlands. HanAdmiraal became Executive Director of the COB, the Netherlands Centre for UndergroundConstruction and stayed there for 10 years. At the same time, he was a part time professor ofUnderground Space at Zeeland University of Applied Science in Vlissingen. In 2008 he became theOwner and Managing Director of Enprodes Management Consultancy in Rotterdam. He focusses inhis consultancy on the field of underground space. As a practicing Tunnel Safety Officer one of hisspecialities is Road Tunnel Safety. Han Admiraal is chair of the of the International Tunnelling andUnderground Space Association’s Committee on Underground Space (ITACUS). He is also President ofthe Dutch-Flemish Pipeline Industry Guild and promotes underground freight transport in that role.As a member of the Urban Planning Advisory Group of UNISDR, he also advices the SpecialRepresentative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Martin Knights was until recently a Senior Vice President and Senior Fellow of Technology in CH2M based in London. He led the Global Practice for Tunnelling and Geotechnical Engineering. He is Past President of the International Tunnelling Association, Lausanne and is a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering. Martin now manages his own consulting company advising government, public and private clients on infrastructure projects, engineering matters and business management
Eng. Sulaiman Abdelrahman Alhajri: Is the Director of Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority for Roads affairs, Board member of UAE society of engineers, and Head of the UAE tunneling Chapter. Graduated from California State University with a Bachelor Degree in Construction Engineering Management, and obtained a master degree in Executive MBA from American University of Sharjah Started his career in 2002 as a project manager.
During his career he managed variety of projects including major roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, marine, and building projects, worth more than 10 Billion UAE Dirhams.
He also participated in many local and international conferences as a keynote speaker, and chaired many Engineering sessions, He was awarded as Department Leader In the UAE first project management conference for Mega projects, received an award in best tunnel design, and many other awards

Dr. Tarcisio B. Celestino the President of ITA - International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association. He is part-time Professor at the University of São Paulo, with both teaching and research responsibilities. He is also Civil Engineering Manager for the company Themag Engenharia, São Paulo. At Themag, he is responsible for designs and consultancy for major powerplants, metro systems, highways, etc. At the University, he is responsible for courses on Rock Mechanics and Underground Works and research supervision. He has acted as a member of the Editorial Boards and Associate Editorof major geotechnical and tunneling journals.
Dr. Celestino received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, under Prof. R.E. Goodman's supervision.

Over thirty years in the construction industry, Alaeden Jlelaty worked on projects including highways, tunnels, bridges, street work, water treatment plants, architectural buildings, and transit stations.
Mr. Jlelaty managed the Second Avenue Subway, valued over $ 375 Mil. With two TBM tunnels excavated, Slurry and Secant walls, NY City utilities.
Alaeden worked on NYC Dey Street Tunnel, Central Artery Jacked Tunnels, NYC Fordham Plaza Bridge, World Trade Center repairs, Riverbank State Park, NYC North River Water Pollution Plant.

Eng. Fatma Zohra Belhadj is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geotechnics, Faculty of Earth Science, at University Khemis Miliana in Algeria since 2008. Eng. Benoit De Rivaz is the Global Business Development Manager for Bekaert Maccaferri Underground Solutions. Prior to that, he spent 10 years working with Bekaert in the Research and Development of Dramix in tunneling application. Earlier, he worked almost 10 years for a Main French Contractor as a Job Site Engineer for Tunneling Projects in different international projects. Eng. De Rivaz undertook his Post Graduate degree at the "Center of Higher Studies on Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete" and his Civil Engineer at the University Paris VI. He is a member of various technical committees as AITES (WG12 on spray concrete), ITA-CET foundation, AFTES (working group on precast segment), Efnarc (executive committee), and Asquapro (spray concrete committee) and has written numerous technical publications.

Won 3 times Rector's Price of the University of Zagreb. In 2000 was awarded first price for the best international consultant of Austria as a member of a team for the Wanjiazhai Yellow River Diversion Project in China. Since 1990 active in underground projects with special expertise in risk analysis and risk management. Application of risk analyses methods on different projects in Singapore, Hungary, Puerto Rico, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Russia, Turkey, Croatia and Slovenia since 1996. Co-author of the Austrian guidelines on "Cost Estimation for Transport Infrastructure Projects Considering Project Relevant Risks". Author of more than 100 scientific and technical papers, co-author of 1 book, 3 guidelines on design and construction of underground structures in Austria and EU. Editor of 6 further proceedings on tunnelling, lecturer on master studies in Torino (TBM Tunnelling) and Salzburg (International competence in management), president of Croatian association for tunnels and underground structures ITA Croatia, member of Executive Council of ITA-AITES.

Diletta is a tunneling engineer working as Segment Manager Underground Constructions in Italy and Waterproofing Regional Technical Manager in Europe for Master Builders Solutions, BASF Construction Chemicals.
She has been working in BASF for last 7 years, supporting owners and designers in innovative technologies for tunnels design and specifications. She wrote several technical papers and she was a speaker in several conferences in Europe about water management solutions in tunnels and innovative injection technologies for ground consolidation and waterproofing. Prior to that she worked as a researcher in tunnel linings design at Polytechnic University of Turin where Diletta took her Masters Degree.

His research experience includes Project manager for full-scale fire tests in Runehamar tunnel with RWS, TNO and Sintef, and Consultant to the "PROMESIS" research project. He has secured patents for mobile CAFS unit, One Seven technology and for CAF installation for road tunnels.

Francesco Arneodo is an experimental physicist with a focus on the intersection between astrophysics and particle physics. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Rome - La Sapienza and his Master's degree from the University of Torino, Italy.
He spent large part of his career at the Gran Sasso Laboratory (Italy) starting with the EAS-TOP cosmic ray experiment. He also worked on neutrino physics with liquid argon detectors and more recently on the search for Dark Matter in the framework of the XENON program. He is part of the team that, in 2012, gave birth to the Gran Sasso Science Institute, a new graduate school in L'Aquila, Italy.
In 2011, being interested also in socio-economic aspects of science, he obtained an M.B.A. degree from the University of Warwick (UK).
Michalis current position (since December 2015) is Associate Technical Director of Arcadis / UAE & Oman branch, leading the Geotechnical and Tunneling Engineering group.
For the period between January 2012 until October 2015, Michalis had established a very successful co-operation with Deutsche Bahn International, by having a very active and continuous participation in the Doha Metro Project for the preparation of the Technical Specifications, the evaluation of the tender offers for the Red Line North Contract and leading the Civil Works department of Qatar Rail.
He has more than 20 years of experience, working as tunnelling and geotechnical expert in major infrastructure projects, including: (a) Athens and Thessaloniki Metros in Greece, (b) the 700km Egnatia Motorway in North Greece and (c) three major concession motorways in Greece of a total length 700km approximately.
He is the author of more than 25 scientific publications and has delivered until now 10 invited lectures to International and Regional Conferences on Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering and Tunnelling.
Michalis holds authored his PhD in weak rock tunneling in National Technical University of Athens and holds the degree of Master of Science of Soil Mechanics and Engineering Seismology from the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine of the United Kingdom.
Karin graduated as a civil engineer from Technical University of Karlsruhe, Germany and completed post graduate studies with her PhD at the Colorado School of Mines, USA. She joined Herrenknecht in 1997 and since then has specialized in geotechnology, research and development. Since 2008 Karin has managed the Geotechnical and Consulting department for the Traffic Tunnelling Division at Herrenknecht's head office in Schwanau, Germany and is responsible also for Business Development.
She is an invited lecturer for postgraduate degrees at Universities in France, Germany, Italy and the USA on the topic of Tunnelling and Tunnel Boring Machines.

Mr. Schönwälder is holding both Bachelor and Master's degrees in engineering and an additional a Master degree (MLS) in "International Construction Law", and is a civil engineer with over twenty sixyearsof experience in construction of major infrastructure projects, particularly inthe fields of NATM drives in Austria, Germany and Ukraine, Qatar and since 2016 in Moscow.
Since one year Mr. Schönwälder isthe Senior Tunnel Project Manager at the Sheremetevo Airport tunnel project in Moscow.This project is marked to operate 2 TBM parallel and build 3 cross passages under two operating runways of the biggest airport in Russia under a very strict time schedule regime.

During her undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Management, she gained experience at various tunneling sites throughout Europe. Thomas Konstantis is a Civil Engineer with more than 15 years of professional experience in the fields of risk engineering, design management and design of tunnel/underground works and large infrastructure projects, working with big international consultant companies, such as CH2M and Hyder Consulting in U.A.E. and "O.T.M. S.A." in Greece. He has graduated from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece, where he also received his MSc. Youssef Diab is a Professor of built environment and Urban Sustainable Planning in the University Paris East Marne la Vallée in Paris. He is the former director of the Urban Engineering Department, the Master Sustainable Urban Development (September 2003 to July 2015) and the research team.
He is also the Scientific Director of the EIVP : Ecole des Ingénieurs de la Ville de Paris. This Graduate School is the only engineering school connected to a Metropolitan area : Paris.
His research work is related to the field of civil and environmental engineering and urban sustainable planning and the relations with urban and regional planning. He is focusing on the analyses of underground spaces. These researches are based on multi criteria analysis, modelling systems and bottom up approaches. This research are realised in co-operation of municipalities, urban utilities companies, the European Union and international donors.
